The American Health Council Nursing Board Welcomes Rachel Vanwormer, MSN/FNP, BSN, RN, ANCC, NRP

Rachel Vanwormer, MSN/FNP, BSN, RN, ANCC, NRP is named to the American Health Council’s Board of Nurses for her compassionate contributions to the nursing field. As a family nurse practitioner at McLaren Medical Group in Flint, Mich., Ms. Vanwormer has provided meticulous care through her Nursing, Women’s Health and Patient Care expertise. After spending over 9 years in the healthcare industry, she continues to use her outstanding repertoire of nursing skills in her current role, which she has held for over a year.

When her grandfather was diagnosed with a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and as a result developed lung cancer, Ms. Vanwormer noticed the lack of access to adequate care. She decided to join millions of healthcare professionals and pursued a career in the nursing field to make a difference in others’ lives. She enrolled at Spring Arbor University (SAU) in Spring Arbor, Mich., and simultaneously worked in the medical/surgical unit at Mercy Hospital Grayling. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2011 from SAU, and immediately registered at Saint Joseph’s College. While at the institution, Ms. Vanwormer expanded her skills as she worked in the maternal and newborn center at Mercy Hospital Grayling. By 2013, she progressed to the birthing center at Otsego Memorial Hospital, where she remained until she earned her master’s degree in nursing in 2016 from Saint Joseph’s College.

Upon her graduation, Ms. Vanwormer used her academic and nursing training to secure her family nurse practitioner role at McLaren Medical Group, an ambulatory network that incorporates more than 150 primary and specialty centers within the areas served by the McLaren Health Care hospital network. Ms. Vanwormer serves as the primary provider at the clinic several days a week, and conducts primary care and wellness visits. She provides each patient she treats with the highest level of quality care, ensuring that each one is on the path of physical health. Her passion and dedication to her patients earned her a nomination for The Daisy Award, an accolade awarded to nurses by The Daisy Foundation. She is incredibly proud of her education and work ethic, as both allow her to perform at her finest each day.

In her free time, Ms. Vanwormer enjoys taking pictures and volunteering in local organizations. She conducts local outreach, and plans to continue to expand and grow in the nursing field. Her ultimate goal is to continue to make a difference in someone’s life by educating her patients on their medical conditions or improving her patients’ health.
