American Health Council Welcomes Brittany Fields, ASN to its Nursing Board

Brittany Fields, ASN, is appointed to the American Health Council’s Board of Nurses for her commitment to aiding others during distressing moments. As a professional nurse at the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Ms. Fields administers help through her Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training, Corrections, and Thoroughness expertise. She has held the role for over a year, and has spent the last three years molding her skills and gaining insight into the healthcare industry.

When Ms. Fields enrolled at the University of Alabama, she learned that her neighbor’s wife was diagnosed with cancer during her first semester at the university. Ms. Fields rushed to her bedside to care for her during her last days. While Ms. Fields slept on her neighbor’s floor — with a baby monitor perched next to her — to ensure that her friend felt comfortable and received immediate aid, she realized she was meant to be a nurse. She finished her education at University of Alabama, and received her Associate of Science in Nursing degree in 2015.

Ms. Fields continues to passionately pursue a career in nursing as she is one of the professional nurses at the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, a department that focuses on the safety of North Carolina residents by supervising sexual offenders in prison or community corrections, preparing for natural disasters, and training local officials to respond to emergencies. Ms. Fields administers medication and non-medication orders, patient care and follows sick call protocols at the facility. She provides education for patients and their families, including preventative care education, to ensure that they maintain a healthy, active lifestyle. As a board-certified EMT, Ms. Fields keeps a balanced mindset while reacting quickly to medical emergencies, ensuring that patients receive optimal care.

As she aims to educate her patients and their families each day, Ms. Fields associates herself with the American Nurses Association to gain literary tools and connect with other professionals to continue her quest for knowledge. She is a member of the Bethel Baptists Church, the Cancer Research, and Multiple Sclerosis and Cystic Fibrosis Research organizations. In her free time, she enjoys reading, caring for her four dogs, playing card games and spending time with her family. Ms. Fields attributes her blossoming career to her work ethic and support from her family, and plans to complete her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing in the future, and considers receiving her Master’s of Science in Nursing as well. Ms. Fields plans to use her skills to help those in developing countries and underserved population.
