The American Health Council has warmly welcomed Ms. Vivian Andrews to its prestigious Physical Therapy Board, in recognition of her dedication to the healthcare industry. Having amassed an impressive 36 years of service to the profession, Ms. Andrews is particularly noted for her contributions in the specialist role of Physical Therapist.
Originally, Ms. Andrews aspired to follow in her sister’s path by enrolling at medical school, but after watching how much commitment to studying was involved, Ms. Andrews decided she wanted more flexibility in her career. She also wanted to find a career path which would fulfil her passion to work directly with patients in order to make a difference. Consequently, Ms. Andrews completed her BS in Physical Therapy from the University of Philippines in 1982. Following this, she also attained her LSVT Certification.
Ms. Vivian Andrews has served in her current capacity as a Physical Therapist at Houston Methodist St. John’s Hospital for the past 10 years. Displaying expertise in geriatrics and orthopedics, in her daily role Ms. Andrews works in a one hundred bed facility within a small community hospital. Her direct patient care responsibilities include; evaluations, triaging, managing pain and ensuring that patients get the best possible care they need. To this end, Ms. Andrews can often be found collaborating with teams with other healthcare professionals in order to ensure seamless patient care.
Houston Methodist St. John’s Hospital brings all the expertise and compassionate care of the world-renowned Houston Methodist Hospital in The Texas Medical Center to the Bay area. Located in Nassau Bay, across from the NASA Johnson Space Center, St. John offers innovative, high-quality, patient-centered care in a welcoming, healthy and welcoming environment. They specialize in offering services in cancer, gastroenterology and GI surgery, heart and vascular, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics and sports, medicine and transport.
Ms. Andrews’ vast medical experience in outpatient medicine has seen her specialize in areas of transplants, burns and trauma, and has also given her the opportunity to work as a travelling physical therapist. Amongst her many professional accolades, she is particularly proud to have been given the opportunity to share her knowledge through providing elective joint lectures.
Attributing her success to her hard work ethic and persistence, Ms. Andrews highlights her natural ability to understand and emphasize with her patients as a contributing factor to her achievements. Ms. Andrews holds becoming the recipient of the ‘I Care Award’ from Houston Methodist St. John’s in particularly high esteem.
Looking to the future, Ms. Andrews plans to continue in her current role working in direct patient care as she very much enjoys following her patients’ successes. In her free time, Ms. Andrews enjoys traveling and going to the theatre. When possible, she also dedicates her time to community service.
