The American Health Council Appoints Ms. Stormie Flamm to the Nursing Board

The American Health Council has warmly welcomed Ms. Stormie Flamm to its prestigious Nursing Board. With 11 years experience working in the healthcare industry, Ms. Flamm is recognized for her achievements as a Registered Nurse.

Ms. Flamm always knew she wanted to become a nurse and first became involved in her profession due to her love of helping others. With an impressive academic background, Ms. Flamm placed a focus in her education in Nursing and Criminal Justice. Completing her studies at the Western New Mexico University (Silver City), Ms. Flamm graduated with her ADN in 2008, ACJ in 2012 and BSN in 2013.

In her current capacity, Ms. Flamm has fulfilled her role as a Registered Nurse at Gila Regional Medical Center for the past 10 years. Displaying expertise in PACU, Ms. Flamm’s daily responsibilities include working in the PACU, undergoing pre-op assessment calls, reviewing patient history, administering medications, preparing the patient for surgery to include getting them situated, explaining the surgery and recovery process through to waking, assessing, and discharging patients after surgery.

Gila Regional Medical Center is a county-owned, not-for-profit, 68-bed acute care hospital. Gila Regional has a strong commitment to the people they serve. Investments in technology and certified caregivers provide quality care delivery through a patient-centered approach. It is home to the Cancer Center and the Surgical Center of the Southwest. Services provided include cancer care, ENT, podiatry, orthopedics, urology, gynecology, behavioral health, radiology, management and surgical services.

Throughout her many professional accolades, Ms. Flamm is most proud of her involvement in launching the SANE program within the hospital and to have been honored by the Southwest New Mexico Honor Society of Nursing. Ms. Flamm attributes her success to her caring and compassionate personality alongside her eagerness to learn.

In a continuous effort to broaden her knowledge, Ms. Flamm maintains membership with the PeriAnesthesia Nurses Association of New Mexico and the American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses.

Looking to the future, Ms. Flamm’s aspirations include becoming more involved in travel nursing, working to become more marketable to hospitals, and to return to her studies with the ambition of obtaining her CPAN and pain management certifications.

Outside of work, Ms. Flamm is proud of her family including her husband, Kevin and her daughter and son. In her free time, her hobbies include camping, fishing, and hummingbird festivals.

Ms. Flamm also commits her time wherever possible to organizations such as the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE program), Shop with a Cop and as a board member of the Silver Regional Sexual Assault Support Services.
