The American Health Council has warmly welcomed Dr. Nelson Leung to its prestigious Physician Board. Drawing on over 24 years of experience, Dr. Leung, from Rochester, Minnesota, is highly regarded for his expertise in Nephrology and Hematology.
When Dr. Leung was in medical school he saw the need for a nephrologist and became interested in research. He attained his Medical Doctorate from Creighton University in 1994, and for the past 18 years, has upheld the position of Consultant- MD at Mayo Clinic. As a Consultant (Attending) at Mayo Clinic, Dr. Leung is actively involved in research with a focus on immunoglobin light chain amyloidosis.

Dr. Leung attributes his successes to the opportunity to receive great mentorship from world renowned specialists in his field at Mayo Clinic. Each year Dr. Leung publishes approximately 20 papers and give public speeches at several conferences in the states and abroad.
Over the course of his illustrious career, Dr. Leung has achieved numerous accolades including a Training Grant NIH in 1998 and the Laurent Award for Nephrology in 2012. He remains affiliated with an array of professional associations including; the Institute of Medical Science, the IMWG, the ISA – where he served asTreasurer, and the IKCRG – where he served as Past President.
Over the next five years, Dr. Leung plans to continue to work at Mayo Clinic and looks forward to entering into more collaborations on a global level.
Outside of work, Dr. Leung enjoys traveling, languages and cultures. He also supports the International Society of Amyloidosis.
