The American Health Council Appoints Dr. Anita Reinhardt PhD, to the Nursing Board

The American Health Council has warmly welcomed Dr. Anita Reinhardt PhD, to its prestigious Nursing Board. Drawing on over 51 years of experience, Dr. Reinhardt, from Las Cruses Campus, New Mexico, is highly respected for her expertise in work environments, leadership management, and critical care.

Dr. Reinhardt became involved in her current profession after becoming inspired by Cherry Ames’ student nursing books. Having focused her studies on Nursing, Nurse Education and Health Care Leadership, Dr. Reinhardt attained her BSN, MSN and PhD qualifications, in addition to becoming a Registered Nurse.

For the past 4 years, Dr. Reinhardt has worked at New Mexico State University School of Nursing, where her day to day responsibilities include course workloads, NMNEC curriculum, monitoring students, and helping to formulate faculty to the course programs.

The mission at the School of Nursing is to promote health and improve the quality of life of the people of New Mexico through nursing education, research, practice, and public service, recognizing the state’s multicultural heritage and dynamic border environment. Their dynamic undergraduate and graduate programs provide a wide variety of options for the beginning and advanced nursing student. Over the past 5 years, their programs have expanded and changed to offer more degree plans in both the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as the delivery of many of the courses now fully online. Their geographical location along the United States Mexico Border and diverse student population provides all students with outstanding clinical experiences.

Dr. Reinhardt attributes her success tenacity, hard work, and her excellent mentors: Christine Tanner, from Oregon Health and Sciences University, and Dr. Margareta Styles, Dean at UCFS in 1980. Her professional accomplishments include completing her clinical practice, administration courses, and education. Dr. Reinhardt is also proud to be a part of the health care facility for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Oil Company, and her personal achievements include her marriage to her husband, Fred.

Keen to progress professionally, Dr. Reinhardt is affiliated with the American Nurses Association, the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, Sigma Theta Tau International, New Mexico Nursing Education, Losar Trim New Mexico Center for Nursing Excellence and the New Mexico Nursing Education Consortium.

Goals within the next 5 years include making it easier for students to progress in the BSN programs. Outside of work, Dr. Reinhardt enjoys singing in the choir, spending time with her grandchildren, children, and step-children.
