

Researchers are testing over 100 potential Alzheimer’s drugs in people. Experts tell WebMD which meds are showing promise.
Feb. 25, 2016 — Of the 244 potential Alzheimer’s drugs tested in people over 10 years, only one of them earned FDA approval. Researcher Jeffrey Cummings, MD, ScD, published that finding in a 2014 paper. The lone approval was for memantine (Namenda), used to treat dementia linked to Alzheimer’s disease.
