

Brain disorders are a medical emergency, needing medical evaluation. Granted, we don’t hear about positive interventions, but our news is filled with the tragedies. Without timely intervention, a county sheriff and too often a jury are asked to make what should be medical decisions.
National Alliance for Mental Illness is an advocacy group started by two mothers of sons with mental illness, who said, “There must be something we can do!” NAMI can be “something we can do” for families adjusting soon to changes in health care for Iowans.
