The American Health Council welcomes Ms. Amy Gordon onto the Industry Board

Ms. Amy Gordon has been warmly welcomed onto the Industry Board by the American Health Council in recognition of her dedication to the healthcare industry. Throughout the past 24 years, Ms. Gordon has amassed a considerable amount of experience, gaining notable respect and admiration for her commitment to the field.

In 1994, Ms. Gordon graduated from the University of Toledo with a BS Degree in Pharmacy. Since then, she has become a Clinical Pharmacist and currently works at Adena Medical Center. Adena Health System includes three hospitals (Chillicothe, Waverly and Greenfield) and six regional clinics, with a total of 311 beds. Adena provides quality healthcare for the more than 400,000 people who call South Central and Southern Ohio home. With more than 3,000 employees, Adena serves as an economic catalyst for the region.
Adena offers their patients leading edge services in the areas of heart health, cancer diagnosis and treatment, women’s health, children’s health and orthopedics. The skilled physicians and medical staff at Adena provide a number of specialty services that are typically found in larger medical centers. These include: open heart surgery; da Vinci robotic surgery; cardiac catheterization; cancer care; advanced orthopedic procedures; high level MRI testing; and a Level II pediatric nursery.

Ms. Gordon is an expert in pain management and geriatrics. On a day to day basis, she is responsible for making recommendations as well as collaborating with a team of nurses, physicians, occupational and physical therapists. She participates on rounding with physicians and expands drug knowledge to other healthcare providers. In the past, Ms. Gordon has had experience in clinical practice residency, working in a hospital, schools, long term care settings, working as a decentralized pharmacist, consulting and as a manager in a retail setting. All of which are professional accomplishments for her. Always wanting to expand her knowledge and understanding, Ms. Gordon is associated with a number of professional associations including Cameo League President, between 2013-2016, Lancaster Festival Board and Harcom House – Child Advocate Center.

Ms. Gordon has always been drawn towards working in the healthcare sector thanks to her long-standing desire to help people. She attributes her success throughout her career to the continued encouragement she received from her parents during her education, as well as the unwavering amount of support she continues to receive from her husband and children.

Over the next five years, Ms. Gordon plans to achieve more certifications, advance her non-profit activities, grow her knowledge and progress into a managerial role. She also plans to dedicate her time to bringing attention to the opioid crisis in rural Ohio.

In her spare time, Ms. Gordon enjoys travelling, practicing yoga, running and reading, as well as spending time with her family.
