The American Health Council Nursing Board Welcomes Shanna Botos, MSN, CPNP-AC/PC

The American Health Council welcomes Shanna Botos, MSN, CPNP-AC/PC to its Board of Nurses. A pediatric nurse practitioner at Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital-Pediatric Hospital Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, Ms. Botos ensures that each patient is cared for. While she has held that position for eight years, Ms. Botos has spent a total of 15 years in the healthcare industry gaining experience in pediatric hospital medicine and pediatric cardiology. She applies her skills to her position to ensure that each child receives immediate and proper care to improve their health and well-being.

Compelled by the healthcare industry and its various sectors, Ms. Botos decided to pursue a career in the nursing field because she was drawn to the field’s ability to combine compassion and service in one career. She began her academic pursuit at John Carroll University and earned a bachelor’s degree in biology in 2000. She immediately enrolled at Case Western Reserve University and earned a master’s degree in nursing in 2004 and quickly immersed herself in the nursing field.

After completing a rigorous academic and nursing training, Ms. Botos eventually landed at the Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital-Pediatric Hospital Medicine where she treats patients on pediatric floors who suffer from various illnesses and rounds newborns in the nursery. Her dedication and passion for her career have allowed her to interact with patients and families, as well as learn from various nurse practitioners. She attributes her success to those encounters, as well as her great mentors who taught her lessons throughout her training.

As a result of her leadership abilities, Ms. Botos has served as president of the APRN Council at Cleveland Clinic for the past three years. She was selected as a cohort of Duke Johnson & Johnson Nursing Leadership Fellowship out of a group of 30 participants, and was chosen to join the fellowship out of 100 candidates from 2015 to 2016. To continue to evolve and interact with fellow nurses, Ms. Botos is a member of several associations, including the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the Ohio Association of Advanced Practice Nurses.

In her free time, she enjoys traveling, practicing yoga and spending time with her family. She volunteers with her local Parent Teacher Association and its various school functions. While she continues to transcend in her professional career, Ms. Botos is currently excelling her academic pursuit as she is enrolled in the Ohio State University’s post-master’s doctoral program, nurse executive, which she plans to complete in three years.
