The American Health Council Appoints Ms. Gina Brennan, MBA, BSN, RN, CNOR, to the Nursing Board

The American Health Council has cordially appointed Ms. Gina Brennan, BSN, RN, CNOR, to its prestigious Nursing Board. Having worked in the healthcare industry for 35 years, Ms. Brennan continues to show a willingness to share and expand her knowledge and expertise.

To begin her career, Ms. Brennan attended Western Kentucky University to study Nursing, graduating in 1985. When Ms. Brennan left school, she almost immediately became involved with obstetrics and continued this for five years. She grasped the opportunity to work within the operating theatre and has never looked back. She received her BSN from University of Phoenix and MBA in Healthcare Management from Western Governors University

Now working at CHI Memorial Hospital as Director of Perioperative Services, Ms. Brennan fulfils numerous jobs everyday. These responsibilities include managing the perioperative services for three different departments. Her management skills vary because the departments differ from the operating room, sterile processing, pre/post op and PACU.

Throughout her career, Ms. Brennan has spoken at a range of professional seminars for multiple associations. She feels privileged to have been able to speak at these events and attributes her successful career to the constant reminder of what it is like to be at the sterile field where the nurses work very hard to ensure the surgeons are prepped for surgery. She views herself as being an effective communicator among the various departments and multiple staff levels as well as being approachable and honest. Ms. Brennan is also exceptionally proud of how much her presence has made a difference in the many places where she has been.

In order to continue to broaden and share her knowledge, Ms. Brennan is a member of the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses. Looking into her future goals, Ms. Brennan aims to improve and maximize patient scores by being the top surgical division among fourteen hospitals. She will also continue working with charitable organizations including Fundraising Arthritis Foundation and the Make a Wish Foundation.
