The American Health Council has warmly welcomed Mr. Dale Buisman, MSN, BSN, NP, NCC, to its highly esteemed Nursing Board. Working in the healthcare industry for over 30 years, Mr. Buisman is an expert in Neonatal Nursing and continues to show enthusiasm for sharing his knowledge.
From childhood, Mr. Buisman was always inspired by his mother who was an LPN. He subsequently decided to pursue a career in healthcare and became a neonatal nurse. Additionally, when he worked in the Navy, he was a hospital corpsman who occasionally worked in the newborn nursery.
Mr. Buisman completed his NP at Bethel College of nursing in 1990, going on to study for his BSN at Lubbock Christian University where he graduated in 1993. A few years later, Mr. Buisman decided to further his career and study for his Masters in Nursing so attended the University of Colorado, graduating successfully in 2000 with an MSN.
Now working as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at Fairview Health Services, Mr. Buisman has numerous duties to fulfil on a daily basis. These responsibilities include attending high risk deliveries, leading resuscitations of babies in need, and caring for neonates in the NICU.
Mr. Buisman’s current workplace, Fairview, is an award- winning nonprofit health care system that provides exceptional, coordinated health care. From preventing illness and injury to caring for the most complex medical conditions, Fairview Health treats it all. Although they are based in Minneapolis, Fairview boasts numerous primary care and specialty clinics in 30 cities across Minnesota with a network of almost 4000 doctors and providers. US News and World Report recognized six Fairview hospitals deeming them one of the best of the best hospitals for providing world class patient care and named two of its locations to the Best Hospitals list on 2017-2018.
The healthcare facility offers a wide range of products, treatments and services including audiology, aquatic therapy, cancer care, bone marrow transplant, counseling, chiropractic services, nutrition counseling, emergency care, family medicine, geriatric services, cardiology, internal medicine, occupational therapy, orthopedics, pediatrics, primary care, and urology.
Throughout his career, Mr. Buisman has had a variety of successes. One he is most proud of is becoming a certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. He attributes his success to his humility and not being ashamed to admit that he doesn’t have all the answers. He is also proud to be able to say he spent four years in active duty and two years in inactive reserves with the US Navy.
In order to continue to share and broaden his knowledge and expertise, Mr. Buisman is a member of various professional organizations, including Sigma Theta Tau, the National Association of Neonatal Nurses and the Academy of Neonatal Nurses.
Over the next five years, Mr. Buisman’s goal is to grow as a person and as a nurse. He is looking forward to continuing his work and positively impacting the lives of people.
When not at work, Mr. Buisman enjoys reading the bible and learning about genealogy. Additionally, he actively volunteers for charitable organizations including the American Legion and GOP.
