The American Health Council Appoints Dr. Brian Shiple DO, CAQSM, RMSK, to the Physician Board

The American Health Council has cordially appointed Dr. Brian Shiple DO, CAQSM, RMSK, to its highly distinguished Physician Board. Dr. Shiple has been working in the healthcare industry for over thirty years, with eleven of those being in his current position as owner of the Center for Sports Medicine and Wellness.

When he was younger, Dr. Shiple’s brother was involved in a car accident and had to undergo rehabilitation. When he witnessed his brother’s strength through the recovery process, it inspired him to become a doctor and help others who found themselves in similar positions.

Dr. Shiple attended Western Connecticut State University where he studied for his BA and graduated in 1985. He then went on to attain his D.O. from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, completing his residency in family medicine at the Medical Center of Delaware before finishing off his studies in 1994 with his fellowship in sports medicine from Penn State University.

Dr. Shiple is currently fulfilling his role as owner of Center for Sports Medicine and Wellness. The center is located in Glenn Mills, Pennsylvania and specializes in the care of non-operative orthopedic conditions. Taking advantage of new technology, Center for Sports Medicine and Wellness offers many services including; tenax tentomy, platelet rich plasma, prolotherapy, sports medicine, diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound, diagnostic discography, nerve hydrodissection prolozone and ozone treatments, stem cell injections using bone marrow concentrate and autologous fat grafting, plus much more.

Having expertise in medicine, internal medicine, interventional and integrative regenerative orthopedic medicine, regenerative injection treatment (RIT), interventional pain medicine and diagnostic ultrasound, Dr. Shiple has a great deal of responsibility across many areas. As well as running his own practice, he treats acute chronic injuries and conducts clinical research.

Throughout his thirty-two year career, Dr. Shiple has enjoyed many professional and personal accomplishments. Some of his successes include being the founding Medical Director of the Philadelphia Triathlon at Fairmount Park, Chief Medical Officer of the Pennsylvania State Games (1994-2006) and being the Volunteer Team Physician of the US Olympic Committee in Colorado Springs (2003). Additionally, he is extremely proud of his academic accomplishments, most notably his role as Assistant Clinical Professor of Family and Community Medicine at Temple University School of Medicine. He is renowned nationwide as an expert in using cutting-edge orthopedic medicine including stem cell and platelet procedures, ultrasound guided platelet rich plasma injections and prolotherapy.

In recognition of his expertise and dedication to the field, Dr. Shiple was elected President of American Association of Orthopedic Medicine and was the recipient of Philadelphia Magazine’s Top Doctor Award. Furthermore, he has authored the book ‘Regenerative Healing for Life’ which explores treating musculoskeletal problems; he has been featured in ESPN; had profiles in the American Milestone TV series, and has authored numerous articles and projects. Dr. Shiple attributes his ongoing success to hard work, dedication, and diligence.

Dr. Shiple is a member of numerous, high profile professional organizations in order to share and broaden his knowledge. These organizations include; the American Academy of Family Physicians; the International Cellular Medicine Society; the American College of Osteopathic Medicine; the American Association of Orthopedic Medicine; the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine and the American Osteopathic Association of Sports Medicine.

Looking into the future, Dr. Shiple aims to form a national network, run workshops for future healthcare professionals, as well as develop new techniques. He is proud to be supported by his wife and three children.

In his free time he enjoys cycling and golfing, as well as volunteering for charitable organizations including AAOM and HHPF.
