Sylvia Boye-Doe, MSN, DNP, CNP, APRN is Selected to the American Health Council’s Board of Nurses

The American Health Council recently selected Sylvia Boye-Doe, MSN, DNP, CNP, APRN to its Nursing Board for her dedication to improve others’ lives. A certified nurse practitioner at OptumCare in Cincinnati, Ohio, Dr. Boye-Doe provides high-quality care to each patient she treats. While she has held her current role for over five years, Dr. Boye-Doe has spent the last 17 years as a registered nurse — and the last eight as a nurse practitioner — expanding her skills and knowledge in prevention, adult medicine and gerontology.

Possessing a passion to care for others, Dr. Boye-Doe decided to pursue a career in the nursing field after caring for her diabetic father. She enrolled at the University of Akron and earned a master’s degree in nursing in 2009, and later earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Walden University in 2017. Eventually settling into OptumCare, Dr. Boye-Doe now performs house calls for patients to ensure that they receive immediate and proper care. She always makes time to educate patients on prevention techniques, how to modify their lifestyles and answer disease-related questions. She treats mainly adult and geriatric patients and performs physical assessments and examinations, and diagnoses diseases as well as creates treatment plans for each patient.

Her positive attitude, professionalism and comprehensive knowledge and skills earned her OptumCare’s Compassionate Care Giver Award in 2017. She also earned the Top Performer Award and reached an OptumCare 1,000 patients in four years milestone. She belongs to the Golden Key International Honour Society, the Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the Ohio Association of Advanced Practice Nurses and the Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association.

With a successful career at hand, Dr. Boye-Doe attributes her achievements to having a strong passion for her profession. She plans to maintain her success by continuing to empower and educate patients and nurse practitioners alike. Additionally, she would also like to acquire a teaching position at an institution to educate rising nursing students.
